Tierzero was founded in 1997 with the goal of delivering
high quality 'all in one' T1 Internet access to
businesses in the Greater Los Angeles Area. Back
then, customers needing T1 Internet access had to
coordinate between three separate vendors to get the router,
the internet access and the Telco line. At the time, costs
ran to about $2000 a month for the combined services.
Company founders, Patrick Guthrie and John Carter, gambled
that if they could deliver all three components in one
package, and at an affordable flat rate, they would reach
all the businesses previously locked out of the market by
price or logistics.
The risk paid off, and by the year 2000 Tierzero had attracted sizable
investment. A state of the art data center was built in Long Beach, outfitted
with raised floor, dedicated air, private generator, fire and UPS system. As
growth accelerated, AT&T partnered with Tierzero to dedicate a private OC48
access facility in the new data center. As the customer base grew, so did
Tierzero, but never losing sight of quality customer service. Which is why, when
much of the technology sector began to suffer in 2000/2001, Tierzero thrived on
tremendous customer loyalty. Providing a reliable, quality
service at an affordable price, proved to be a winning long term business strategy.
In mid 2001, at the height of the dot-com crash, Tierzero acquired a new data
center in Downtown Los Angeles and relocated its headquarters and
Technical Assistance Center. The new data center featured a Nortel designed uni-strut
system, dedicated air, UPS, generator, fire suppression, and significant private
fiber assets. This move poised the Company for the significant growth to come.
In 2002, driven by customer demand, Tierzero expanded its network footprint to
offer T1 access to major cities nationwide. Existing customers with
remote offices beyond Greater Los Angeles were now able to receive a
total network solution.
Through 2002 to 2005, Tierzero continued to grow, attracting larger corporations
as clients and recording ever increasing annual profits. Notably, Tierzero also
extinguished all corporate debt whilst simultaneously adding new products
including VPN and, Firewall.
In 2005, Tierzero launched its Hosted PBX, VoIP and Trunk Replacement offering. This exciting new product was extremely well received by existing
customers seeking to expand their telecommunications to Tierzero, who already
provided their reliable T1 Internet Access. With the adoption of this
service Tierzero became a total communications service provider.
In 2006, Tierzero partnered with Netsuite to revamp its internal information
services. By outsourcing this important business function, Tierzero was enabled
to pursue a key business growth objective while maintaining a lean
headcount.
Today, Tierzero continues to prosper in a competitive and
volatile market by maintaining its reputation for high quality customer service, and responding to the shifting market needs of its customers with innovative
product development and service consolidation.
