In customer surveys one thing that businesses said made the biggest difference with Tierzero was proactive monitoring. Time after time we notify our customers of problems and solve them before they even know they are a problem.
Tierzero does not charge extra for Proactive 24/7 Monitoring like some of our competitors. We include it with your service because it makes sense you would expect it as part of your service.
Our Customer Care Specialists monitor your circuit around the clock 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Not only do we respond if your circuit goes down, we can tell if the line is having problems and may go down. In both cases we immediately spring into action and take proactive steps to insure your up-time. In the event your circuit goes down we open a trouble ticket and contact you to make sure you have not turned off the router or there is a power outage at your site. If there is trouble on the circuit we run tests to determine if the problem is with the phone company portion of the line or with the wiring in your building – this happens in minutes. In the event of phone company trouble we immediately escalate leveraging our volume purchasing power with the phone company. Tierzero is the largest wholesale customer with the largest telephone company in California. That means we can get trouble resolved in minutes that takes others hours or days. Many times we do this work in the early hours of the morning before your team gets to the office saving you lost time in productivity. If the problem is with a Tierzero provided router or the inside wiring leading up to the router we will dispatch one of our field techs to quickly resolve the problem. We know your business Internet access is critical to your operation so we do everything we can to keep it running trouble-free.

Metro Fiber Installation
Metro Fiber is a end to end fiber connection and is not available in all locations. The installation process takes 30 to 90 days depending on whether fiber has already been brought to your building or construction is needed. Installation is generally included with the monthly price of your Metro Fiber service. However, in some cases some additional charges do apply if additional construction is needed at your location.
Metro Fiber installation steps:
-
The day we receive your service agreement and completed network worksheets the ball is rolling and an order is placed with one of our wholesale fiber carriers. This connects you with our local POP (point of presence) where we connect you to the Internet. If your business is in California you would connect to our main POP in downtown Los Angeles.
-
Field tech comes to your location for a site survey to determine if construction is needed.
-
Your IP addresses that will be used to route traffic on your EoC line to the Internet will be configured.
-
The Tierzero customer network routers are configured for your service.
-
The router that will be be brought to your location, sometimes called a CPE (customer premise equipment), is configured.
-
The wholesale carrier contacts us and lets us know when the fiber line to your office will be up. This is sometimes called a FOC (firm order commitment).
-
After receiving the FOC for your Metro Ethernet fiber, someone from our Installation Department will contact you to schedule an onsite installation appointment.
-
The field tech will extend the fiber from your the telephone company phone closet sometimes referred to as a MPOE (minimum point of entry) to your suite or office.
-
The field tech will install the CPE in your office and test the service to make sure the full bandwidth is being received.
-
The field tech will give login/password to your customer monitoring portal.
-
The field tech will give you a copy of your IP addresses and how they are configured as well as customer care contact information.

Tierzero Metro Fiber FAQ’s
What is Metro Fiber?
Metro Fiber is the king of high-speed Internet access. It is a direct fiber link between your location our our POP (Point of Presence) from there we connected you directly to the Internet backbone. This fiber connection completely bypasses the telephone company. Metro Fiber gives you speeds from 50 megabits to 1 gigabits per second.
How does Metro Fiber compare to DS3?
T3 Internet access is a great option for high-speed Internet access. However, if you can get Metro Fiber at your location – take it. T3 is a very old technology and requires a lot of electronics across the link where fiber is more of a direct shot with less components to go wrong. More importantly, a 100 megabits of Metro Fiber will cost you the same or just slightly more than a 45 megabit T3.
Is Metro Fiber Reliable?
Extremely. In fact, even more reliable than a T3. Because less electronics are involved and Metro Fiber bypasses the phone company which greatly reduces the chance of errors.
Is Metro Fiber Secure?
Very. This is a point-to-point, secure and private connection.
Is the speed guaranteed?
Yes. This is not a “best effort” service like some Cable services. Your speed is guaranteed.
Is the speed symmetrical?
Yes, the speed is both up and down. For example, when you order 100 megabits Metro Fiber you are guaranteed that 100 megabits both up and down.
Will I need any special equipment?
No. Tierzero will supply a customer premise router.
Can I keep my existing IPs?
Yes. If you have current service with Tierzero and are using Tierzero IP’s you will be able to continue on Metro Fiber using those IP’s.
Why do they call Metro Fiber plug-and-play?
Business Ethernet is said to be plug-and-play because there’s no need for expensive routers or equipment. The hand off is the same reliable Ethernet cable we’re all familiar with. Plug it into the wall and you’re good to go.
What bandwidth will I need?
Metro Fiber is highly scalable. You can start with 50 Mbps and a simple change on our end turns you up or down as you need it.
Will Metro Fiber be compatible with my LAN?
90% of all LANS are Ethernet which almost guarantees you have true plug-and-play compatibility with the LAN you have.
