Tierzero MPLS (Multi-Protocol Label Switching) Cloud Service is like a traffic cop that overlays your Tierzero T1, Bonded T1, T3, Business Ethernet or Metro Ethernet connections. MPLS code is added to the routers that locks down the traffic between your locations making communications between the sites bullet-proof. Applications can be hosted and accessed at any of your locations or be hosted in one of Tierzero’s secure data centers. Voice, data, or video seamlessly run through the network. QoS (Quality of Service) allows you to give priority over different types of traffic keeping your network highly efficient.

MPLS prioritizes your traffic with QoS (Quality of Service)
Tierzero Quality of Service (QoS) classifies and prioritizes your network traffic into up to four classes of service. A typical design may include separate classes for real-time applications—such as Voice over IP (VoIP), mission and business-critical traffic—such as email applications, and data traffic for all other non-critical transactions. We enable QoS not only at the circuit level, but also throughout the entire Tierzero MPLS network, preventing vital applications from failing due to network congestion and usage spikes.
By deploying MPLS with QoS (Quality of Service) over the Tierzero Managed Network the Tierzero MPLS Network Engineers will work with you to ensure business-critical applications—Voice, Video and Database Applications get priority on the network.
QoS (Quality of Service) is a component of MPLS that:
- Enables the prioritization of business-critical applications
- Enable de-prioritization of none critical applications like web-surfing
- Allows you to allocate bandwidth to sites and applications
- Promotes consistent, interruption-free network performance
- Prevents critical applications from failing due to network congestion
We recommend separating traffic into up to four classes of service:
- Real-time – Voice and video for Tierzero’s voice services
- Critical – For mission-critical data, such as financial transactions, credit card data, etc.
- Business – For enterprise applications, such as SAP, Oracle, video surveillance, etc.
- Data – For low-priority traffic, such as Internet browsing, FTP, etc.

Network Performance Starts in the Core
The strength of Tierzero’s MPLS Cloud Service lies with it’s network. Tierzero’s MPLS Cloud Network is engineered to maximize performance. Redundant optical links and a fault-tolerant POP (Point of Presence) architecture ensure maximum uptime and reliability. In addition, our state-of-the-art MPLS routing technology delivers your data with exceptionally low latency and packet loss.
Tierzero MPLS Cloud Service enables your data to traverse the entire network in a single hop, eliminating the performance degradation and loss associated with memory-intensive routing decisions. MPLS routing creates a fully meshed network topology with multiple paths between any two sites—instead of the hub-and-spoke topology typically found in IPSec VPNs—and automatically forwards your data via the optimal path, ensuring it is delivered quickly without bottlenecks or single points of failure. This makes MPLS ideal for supporting performance-sensitive applications, such Voice and Videoconferencing.
MPLS Protects Your Network with Built-in Security
Because Tierzero’s MPLS Service is a completely private network it is secure by default. It is a closed system only allowing your sites access to each other. The network can be opened up to Internet access is needed. Each site can be given access, or the sites can be routed to one site to gain Internet access. Alternatively, sites can gain access through the Tierzero Managed Network.
We Design and Manage the Whole Service
Tierzero uses a technical discovery process to determine which applications need to be prioritized and how to allocate bandwidth on your network. We configure routers at both ends of each access circuit and the core MPLS network to detect, mark, and prioritize the different network flows.
By deploying QoS enabled Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) routers, Tierzero enables QoS on the T1, Bonded T1, T3, Business Ethernet and Metro Ethernet service. Traffic is prioritized through the QoS functionality of Tierzero’s MPLS Cloud Network.
All circuits on the Tierzero Managed Network prioritize traffic bi-directionally between the CPE and the Tierzero network. Tierzero’s QoS-enabled MPLS Cloud Network allows for improved packet delivery while minimizing latency and jitter.
